A coaching model is also helpful in early recovery, as evidence by the use of Sponsors in the 12-Step community. Substances and other behaviors can cause your brain to give you bad information for a time, so finding someone who has , what you want can be the best way to move forward.
Coaching can be more directive than therapy, hopefully shorter term and can, at times, be a good adjunct to therapy.
